January Favourites

I've seen this series all over YouTube and around the blogging community and I've always wanted to have a go myself.. so what better time to start than January! Here are a few of my favourites this month!

BEAUTY FAVOURITES

1. Aussie - Aussome Volume dry shampoo
I feel like this could honestly be a favourite every month because I've been using this product for years non stop! I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but after I've washed my hair it goes really really flat and has no volume to it whatsoever, but this dry shampoo does wonders! It gives my hair just a little bit of boost so that I can at least attempt to style it... If you've never tried Aussie before I highly recommend them because their products smell SO AMAZING and are so good for the price!

2. Mac eye shadow - Brun
I've used a pencil to fill in my eyebrows for years until I discovered that powder gives you a more natural look and is 100% easier for me to apply.. I spent around 2 days (!) trying to decide which colour my eyebrows actually are.. because the amount of brown eye shadows there are to choose from in Mac is actually mad. I settled on Brun and I am so pleased with the result, it really does apply much more naturally than a pencil - I'm never going back!

3. Chanel No. 05
This was featured recently in my 'Outlet Shopping Haul' post but I HAD to include it in my favourites! I honestly haven't used it that much this month (because I don't tend to leave my house often.. let alone have a good occasion to wear it to!) But I've worn it once or twice and when I did I just loved it so much.. it makes you feel so classy and ladylike (which are 2 things I lack skills in..) I can't wait for the right occasion to arise where I can actually wear this properly, it claims to last for around 6 hours so I can't wait to put it to the test.. hopefully my boyfriend might treat me to a night out soon..? *hint*

4. Bobbi Brown Bronzer - Tell U Ride
I know, I need to stop mentioning this bronzer... but I just love it too much. And although it's coming out super pinky red in the photo it's actually quite a nice pinky brown colour. I've used this so much this month because I just feel like a little dusting of this on my cheeks finishes a makeup look right off - it really brings the whole look together! I've also used this as a contour with the Nars Ita brush and it works so well for this too - bonus!!

BLOG FAVOURITES

Leta of The Nerdy Me is not only a lovely lovely lady who leaves very sweet comments on my posts but she also writes some AMAZING blog posts! Her content is brilliant and she writes so passionately about so many different things. My favourite part of her blog is her 'motivspiration' posts, when I read these it always puts me in a good mood and genuinely makes me feel motivated! Also, can we just talk about those gorgeous photos.. LOVE!

Amela is one of the many lovely people I have met through twitter and the blogging community. She is a great person to chat to and puts me in a really great mood every time we talk! Her blog posts also put a big smile on my face, I love reading about what she's been up to with a nice cup of coffee. (nom!) Her recent post about anxiety is a particular favourite of mine, I loved reading about her personal story and I know from experience how difficult it is to share that personal side of yourself on you blog, so I think she's deserves all the love she can get! She also gave me a lovely mention!(thanks again! x)

Shannon is another lovely lady that I see pop up all the time, she always leaves sweet comments on my blog and shows loads of support on twitter. She only started her blog fairly recently but you would never guess it! Her posts are freaking amazing and her photos of the beauty products are EVERYTHING! If you love all things beauty I highly recommend her blog! I particularly love her recent Lush haul because its short and sweet and I love all the little comments on each product!
.... I also love that she has a love of Lush just like me.. haha!

OTHER FAVOURITES

1. My new cross trainer!

If you follow me on twitter (and if you don't please do follow me! @jemmasimplelife) you'll know that I've been obsessed with my cross trainer recently! In the spirit of the new year, I thought I would do what everyone else is doing in January and try to lose a bit of weight. To be honest I've been wanting to lose weight for a while now, I tried running.. which lasted about a week. But I had a bit of leftover money from Christmas so I decided to treat myself! So far I'm finding it better than running mainly because I don't have to leave the house... God forbid! But this is the main reason I stopped running, I had to walk a good 20 minutes to the beach where I would do my run so by the time I'm done it's been a whole evening and I have no time for anything else! But with the cross trainer you just drag it out in front of the TV and run for 30 minutes, it's perfect and I have no excuse not to do it! So hopefully I keep it up..
*My cross trainer is from Amazon and the brand is called Body Sculpture for anyone who's interested.

2. TKMaxx sports bra.

So to go along with my cross trainer I bought a few new 'sporty gear' items.. so I can get really into it and at least look professional when I'm sweating after 10 minutes! I bought new trainers, leggings and some tops, but one item that really stuck out for me is my new sports bra. I was a little bit reluctant to buy one, because I bought 2 from Topshop when I first started running, they were both in the large size and were WAY too small for me.. now I don't have the biggest boobs ever so I really don't know why they ran so small on me.. but they were so uncomfortable I was a little bit put off really! I decided to have a little browse in TKMaxx and came across this bright pink number, again it was large and when I tried it on it felt PERFECT! Its so supportive and it looks really great under vest tops and it was half the price of a Topshop sports bra.. what's not to love?!

3. 'Out Of The Woods' Taylor Swift Official video
I felt like I couldn't do a favourites without mentioning this... Taylor Swifts new video for Out of The Woods came out earlier this month and oh my god. I've always LOVED Taylor Swift music videos ever since I first watched the video for Love Story... I've been obsessed! When 1989 first came out (in 2014..I know!) I fell in love with ALL of the songs and played them on repeat for days.. so now I'm loving watching all the videos as they come out. All in all, Taylor is a gorgeous human being who can make rolling in mud sexy, and if you haven't seen the video yet.. you should!

4. Pretty Little Liars
So Pretty Little Liars came back this month and I am so so happy! I've watched this series for years and adored every second of it! I honestly feel like I've build up such a relationship with all the characters..sad I know! But, I'm really enjoyed the episodes and I can't wait for it to pick up a bit more because I love all the really intense episodes that have you on the edge of your seat! I honestly don't know what I will do when Pretty Little Liars is over for good.. probably just watch it again and again from the beginning like the loser I am...

  1. Is it weird that I live in Australia and have never seen this 'Aussie' brand haha! Kudos to you on your fitness program. Actually cross training is better for the joints than running or jogging as it's low impact not that I'm saying running is bad! I wish I could fit a cross trainer in my house somewhere.
