What I Got For My Birthday | 2016

Once again thank you all so much for your lovely birthday wishes, I had a really lovely day - actually, a really lovely week! I'm staying at my Mum's and Dad's houses this week and I was lucky enough to go and see Mamma Mia in London and Little Mix in Bournemouth all in the same week, so it's been a bit jam-packed but amazing nonetheless.. and to be honest a much much needed break from stress and worries! (I need to come home more often!)

Of course, I couldn't have a birthday without doing a 'What I Got For My Birthday' post - personally, I love reading these posts myself and seeing what people are into and what they got for their birthday, I'm just a really nosey person basically! But, I was lucky enough to receive some really lovely and thoughtful gifts for my birthday, so I thought I would share that with you guys!

Disclaimer: As I've said in the past, I know most of you won't get offended, but I feel like it's important for me to write a quick disclaimer just to let you know that I am not writing this blog post to brag in any way! If you feel like you might take offence from the post, please go and read something else - or come back soon! Also, I am obviously so grateful that I received so many lovely bits for my birthday!!

CLOTHES

Now that I am 20 my mum was really struggling to pick out bits that I would actually like, so whilst on our little Mamma Mia trip we went across to Oxford Circus and she let me pick out a few bits! It was the first time I've ever been to Oxford Circus and obviously I loved it - just wish we could've spent a bit longer there because the shops are so huge you need hours in each shop! (to be honest we genuinely spent 1 and a half hours in Top Shop.. oops!)

Also, I didn't photograph each clothing item separately, because we all know I'm crap at taking fashion photos, but I'll try to add a link to all the bits, so you can get a better look at everything! (Obviously not including Primark because still don't have an online store - so sad!!!)

So first we went into Top Shop, I went in with the intention of just buying new Joni Jeans because even though I love love them to bits, they really don't last very long and I had a huge hole where you wouldn't want a hole to be.. if yano what I mean! I went with a different colour than I usually would (in the past I've bough quite blue denim ones) and this time I went for a grey-er blue - I believe they are called Sulfur blue. They had so much more choice compared to my local Top Shop and this colour was definitely my favourite out of the whole collection. If you haven't already tried Joni Jeans I recommend them if you don't mind spending a bit.. they are super super comfy and almost feel like leggings when you've got them on!! But as I said, they don't last that long and the quality could be a little better to be honest. As I said, we spent over an hour in Top Shop and ended trying on way too many clothes... I'm really into stripes at the moment and they seem to be everywhere in the shops, so I picked up a gorgeous blue and white striped long sleeved shirt - I love the look of shirts and jeans and I actually wore both for my birthday meal and loved it! Unsurprisingly, I also picked up a striped strappy top too.. normally I wouldn't go for strappy tops, because they aren't overly flattering on me, but this one was quite flowy which I really love - it just hides all the bits you don't want people to see! The strappy top is V-necked and has gorgeous back detail, I just can't wait for the weather to pick up a bit so I can wear it out properly. Also, can we just talk about how good student discount is! We saved so so much money in Top Shop!!

We also went into Primark - the Primark is honestly huge and we spent around 40 minutes just in the pyjamas section (once we had found it!!) For tops I got this gorgeous burnt orange patterned strappy top - now, my wardrobe is mainly made up of blacks, whites and greys but if I ever branch out to the colours I'll always go for a burnt orange, I just find it so flattering with my skin tone and I really love it! Once again, this top is super flowy and I can't wait for summer basically!! I also bought this gorgeous coat, I'm really loving the sleeveless coat (if you can even call it a coat?) look at the moment and I just find it looks so gorgeous with any long sleeved top underneath - I also can't wait to wear this when the weather picks up a bit - I just think its a bit of a sunglasses kind of a coat (if you know what I mean...?) You can't go to Primark without looking at the pyjamas, they do so many cute designs, and I honestly could've left with around 10 pairs of pyjamas they are all so adorable! I settled on this really cute Winnie The Pooh set and this popcorn set (mainly because I love the shorts!) but also I really love the top from the popcorn set because once again (!) it's quite flowy so it hides all those bits you don't want to reveal, I also just find it much more comfy to sleep in.. just me?!

The last place we went for clothes was Matalan, and we basically went in there to grab the basics - I've been wearing Matalan leggings for years and love them so we picked up a few of those! We also had a little look at the shoes because, as I've mentioned in previous posts, I tend to wreck shoes in a couple of weeks... so we wanted to pick up some cheap pairs that would see me through for a little bit!!

MUGS

The mugs I got honestly need their own section because I received so many...! As you know, I am a bit of a mug addict and I plan on filling my mug cupboard with loads of random (and huge) mugs! I already have a few in there, but to add to the collection my Mum offered to buy me a few!! We went into Urban Outfitters because I really wanted to have a little look at their home section, which oh my god.. I freaking love everything! After swooning over the gorgeous terrariums I found this adorable mug (which I actually went to buy a few weeks before but decided against it.. for some strange reason) well, I fell in love with it all over again and just had to have it - I may have to go back and get the other version of it... (white with blue patterns)

We also saw these super cute mugs in Matalan for £1 each!! (you can't really go wrong) and obviously we got one for me and one for Ethan (my boyfriend) I've always wanted to get some cute little personalised mugs like this so I am so glad we found these for so cheap!!

PHONE

Now, I've mentioned in the past how I always manage to break everything techy that I own... and well, that's exactly what happened with my old phone.. my Dad, being the tech-y wizard (?) that he is always the one to insist that he get me a new gadgets so he offered to buy me a new one for my birthday - I always let him just choose whatever he wants to get me without giving him any input because he always does so so much research to get the best quality for the best deal so it was a complete surprise when I opened the phone! He actually bought me a Sony Experia Z3, which I am in love with! As you can tell, I'm not exactly knowledgeable in the tech-y area so I can't really explain why it's good..but it does everything that I need it to do and it has more memory than my old phone so that's good!! I can take so many more pictures - speaking of which, the back camera is actually amazing and there's a 'blurred background' setting which I know I will be using ALL the time (hello Instagram photos!!) The only thing I will say, is that the front camera isn't the best - I mean its okay but it could be better.. but I don't really mind that much, since I don't take THAT many selfies...

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this quick haul of what I got for my birthday! I didn't quite include everything because I hate talking about clothes all the time and I am so bad at describing them!! But, once again, I am so grateful for my lovely family and also my boyfriend for getting my all these lovely bits, I am so thankful and chuffed and I had a really lovely day! :)

Also, you may have noticed that I left out the Lush section of this post, but I've decided to do a whole separate post on what I got from Lush Oxford Street - so if you're interested watch this space!!

  6. It's so nice to hear that you had a great birthday. And you got some lovely presents too! I love those mugs, can I have them? Hahaha, anyways, I need to get a new phone myself and I'm debating what should I get. I mean, I would love to get an iPhone 6 but I am not sure my bank account agrees with that :)
