Glowy Spring Cheeks | feat. Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

Now that it's spring, the weather is starting to get a little warmer and the blue skies are starting to shine through, highlighters and luminisers are on my mind! Glowy, highlighted cheeks in Spring is a huge must, to make your skin look healthy and alive - I mean come on, it's not Winter anymore! I've seen this highlighter floating around on Twitter a lot over the past couple of months so I thought I would jump on the Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette band-wagon (better late than never right?!) since the product always looked so gorgeous in photos - you guys did a great job at tempting me to buy it! I was so excited to finally get my hands on this cute little set since I've always loved Sleek products, the packaging and quality of the makeup is top notch and for an amazing price too - you can't really go wrong!

For starters the packaging is absolutely gorgeous; it comes in this stunning gold box which I find to be so classy - definitely more of what you would see on higher end makeup! It also comes with a large mirror which always comes in handy! As you open the box you see that there are 4 different, decent sized, highlighters in such beautiful shades and also a brush, which I wouldn't personally use since I already have a brush that I like to use for my highlight! The four different highlight shades are designed to be used to highlight different areas of your face and Sleek actually give you an amazing guide on the back of the outer packaging that lets you know where to put each shade (obviously you don't HAVE to follow their instructions!!) this is such a clever idea as it actually makes use of every colour in the set, because I don't know about you but whenever I buy a makeup product that comes in a set there's always that one colour that I never ever touch!! However, I feel like all of these shades are completely wearable and if you follow Sleek's guidelines you can get a real healthy glow on all areas of your face!

The first shade 'Ecliptic' (top left) is designed to highlight the browbone and comes in this gorgeous pink-y peach shade with the slightest bit of shimmer! It's the only cream highlight in the set, which I personally believe is so much better for your brow bone as it's easier to apply and can be subtle or build-able - depending on the look you're going for! On the skin, to get a real glowing brow bone the product did need to built up a little bit and I opted for using my fingers, since I find it easier to apply cream products (especially on my brow bone) with my fingers instead!

The second shade is 'Hemisphere' (top right). I feel like this is by far the classic shade that is everyone's favourite from this set and I have to agree! This is the shade that is supposed to go on the tops of your cheekbones and personally I believe the shade is perfect and gives off just the right amount of glow to any makeup look. This shade is deffinitely the pinkest shade in the set and is also a lot more shimmery than the others, it is one of the baked highlighters in the set which makes it look so gorgeous in the packaging!! On the skin this highlighter is so so pigmented! I only had to swipe the brush into the product maybe once or twice and the result was super strong and all-round amazing! Definitely a winner in my books - move along Kim Kardashian!

Third is 'Subsolar' (bottom left) which is a silky, shimmer powder in a cream/white colour and is designed to highlight the bridge of your nose. This one is definitely less pigmented than the other shades, however I think this is perfect for the bridge of your nose, as you definitely want a more subtle highlight here! You can however, achieve a less subtle look by using your finger to build up the colour slightly.

The last shade is 'Equinox' (bottom right) another baked powder in a more orange-y peach shade, this one is designed to highlight your cupid's bow and enhance your lips. This one is definitely similar to 'Hemisphere' in terms of it's texture and pigmentation and I would say it could definitely be used as a cheekbone highlight also - if you're feeling rebellious! *wink*

Overall, I am in love with this gorgeous palette and I can't wait to get even more use out of it this Spring! To me, this palette screams Spring and Summer (I mean, even the names are all about the sun - trust me I googled it, haha!) the shades are absolutely gorgeous and perfect for anyone who wants glowy, summery skin ready for the warmer months! I also lovely the versatility of the shades and I can't wait to experiment with all the different shades in different areas of my face!

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this long over-due makeup review! I feel like I don't treat myself to new makeup enough which is why I hardly ever review anything! But if you guys liked this post be sure to let me know, that way I have a good excuse to buy even more pretty makeup.. it's for a review okay! That make's it justifiable.. right?! Also, let me know what your favourite shade is in the comments below! As always, thanks for reading!

  2. Oh this looks beautiful! I really like the bottom two shades. I'm not that into super strong highlight especially on my cheekbones so I feel "subsolar" would be something I'd like. Definitely adding this to the list of products to try out.

  4. This palette is gorgeous and Sleek is definitely one of my favourite drugstore brands. I'm quite hesitant on creamy highlighters mainly because I don't think I know how to actually apply them properly on the face without moving my foundation as well - any tips? Have to agree on using my fingers for any cream-under the brow bone products! The palette just looks so luxurious and photogenic xx

    1. That's so true and I'm honestly not really sure how to deal with that problem!! I tend to stay away from the cream highlighters (apart from Ilamasqua Aurora which is one of my favourites!) I couldn't agree with you more that this is such a photogenic palette - that's exactly what I thought when I first saw it! x
