May Favourites

It's that time of the month again, and as ever, it has come around super fast! So much has happened this month, I finished uni, started a new job and the weather finally got warmer (woo!) but you can read all about my life lately here! I also treated myself to a few beauty bits (which doesn't happen very often surprisingly..) so I definitely have a few beauty favourites to share! Update #5 | Summer Is Just Around The Corner!

I've just started my new job at a little place that rhymes with 'Schmescos' (lol) this week which means waking up at 4:30am (yes, you read that right... 4:30am!) which my body is not too happy about - so that means I have been extra tired all week long as I haven't quite  caught up on all that sleep I've missed out on. So I thought I would write a quick update post, since I haven't quite got all my motivation to write a full-on beauty review or pep-talk style post.. but I am, however, motivated enough to ramble for bit, haha! 

How To | Be Motivated To Workout

Motivation is always something that I struggle with when I decide to work out. I can keep it up for maybe 2 weeks at a push and then I just get bored or tired and eventually give up.. until I decide to start again in a few weeks time. So I decided to scour the internet in the hope of finding some tips for workout motivation and I found a fair few ideas that I'd like to share with you guys - since it's not too late to start working on that summer body.. as long as you have the motivation to workout right through till that summer holiday! I would love to know if you have tried any of these in the past and if they worked for you. Also, if you guys (particularly you fitness lot!) have any more ideas on how to gain motivation when it comes to working out please feel free to share them in the comments - I need as much help as I can get, haha!

3 Quick & Healthy Smoothies

Smoothies are perfect way to introduce yourself to a healthier mind and body, not only do they have so many health benefits but they are also super delicious and refreshing on a hot summers day! I've been trying to incorporate more smoothies into my diet recently since I've been drinking way to much coffee for my own good and I wanted a delicious alternative to usual cuppa! I thought I would share with you guys 3 of my favourite smoothie recipes so that you can make my go-to smoothies at home - all 3 are super easy and require hardly any ingredients, so you can make them all for cheap! Obviously I know that they aren't right at the top of the healthy scale but proper healthy smoothies are just not for me.. I just need a BIT of sugar, you know! How I Cope On Bad Mental Health Days

I've been fairly open with my mental health on this blog and as I live and learn about anxiety and mental health I really do enjoy sharing my experiences and tips with you guys so that I can help you when you're having a particularly bad day or if you just need a little reminder that you're not alone! I've written a post in the past featuring general tips on how to deal with anxiety, however I want to share a few of the things I like to do when I'm having a particularly bad mental health day, since I've had a fair share of these days recently - but on the plus side, they have really taught me my own personal ways of dealing with my anxiety. I also think it's so important to have a few ideas of what to do with yourself on these days, because I know that sobbing in bed alone can seem super tempting but there are so many more things you can do to cheer yourself up and block out the negative thoughts!

How To | 15 Ways To Be A Morning Person

Although we all say that we hate 'morning people' I know for a fact that we all secretly wish that we could be like them.. as we press the snooze button on our alarm for the third time! We all secretly wish that we could wake up happy and full of energy and get straight to work in the mornings, rather than it getting to lunch time and realising that we haven't really got started with the day yet! Well, I'm going to let you in on a little secret! We can be like them.. it's not even that difficult! So I thought I would share a few tips on how to be a morning person, so that we can both learn a few things and hopefully at least be a bit more chirpy in the mornings! Since, now that I actually have a job lined up for the summer I'm going to have to become one of those illusive morning people and wake up at 4:45am (yes I know.. Being a girl is tough, from expectations to inequalities and makeup to shaving we go through a lot of struggles in every day life! I feel like since being with my boyfriend for almost 4 years and living with him for a year now, I've really opened his eyes to the struggles that us girls have to face - Despite him believing that I'm just weird.. and its just me who goes through these things! Obviously it's not all bad and being a girl has its benefits too and also I'm not saying that guys don't have their own struggles or share the same struggles as us! Stop Being A Jerk On The Internet (A Rant...)

The modern world is such an exciting place to be, we can really let our creativity flow and share our opinions so easily nowadays - whether it be writing it down in a blog, voicing your thoughts in the form of a vlog, showing your feelings through photography or even just simply writing a short comment, these opinions can be shared instantly and may potentially reach a huge audience of people. There are so many new individuals every day creating amazing material and sharing it with the world through the internet, mainly just because it's what they love doing and it makes them happy to have an opinion that is being listened to; whether it be with a big audience or just a few people! 'Hate' is a huge problem for anyone who chooses to put themselves out there on the internet, there are always going to be people who disagree with what you have to say; and a lot of the time the comments you may receive in reply are far from constructive criticism and can often take on a more personal approach. Luckily, as a small blogger the negativity I have received is minimal in comparison to others that I have seen, however, I know this is something that will effect me as my blog grows. Despite not having many personal experiences of internet hate, I have obviously come across many of these jealous comments in the past that are aimed at others and I hope that this post will reach both those who are dealing with this type of hate and those who are writing these nasty comments.

Top Three Thursday | Highlighters

I'm going to be honest, I've lost all blog post motivation.. and I am really not in the mood to write any posts.. so please bear with me! I've finally just handed in my last University assignment for Year 2 though, so I hope to spend a lot more time blogging, which will hopefully get me out of this slump! And to start me off I've decided to start a new series on my blog called 'Top Three Thursday' where every other Thursday I will go through a different section of my makeup drawer and review my top three favourite bits! This week I decided to show you my highlighters since its been so so warm and sunny recently and I love to wear a gorgeous highlighter when the sun in shining to give that full-on strobe effect! Hello, Gorgeous! | 6 Ways To Feel Beautiful & Confident

The one beauty tip that I will always live by is to remember how beautiful you already are. We've all been there though, on those days where nothing seems to be going right - you've just spent way too long on your makeup and actually decide that it looked better before you even started, and your hair won't seem to behave at all. You're a mess and you genuinely don't feel beautiful one bit - trust me I've been there! So I thought today I would share some tips to help you(/us!) to feel beautiful again on those days where nothing seems to work and to give us all a little confidence boost when we need it! 

We All Need A Little Me Time

Now, we all know I love a good pamper sesh and I honestly feel like I've written quite a few posts about pampering in the past!! To be honest though I've been a bit stressed and anxious recently, so I've got pampering on the mind and it really has been a great way of de-stressing and returning back to normal a bit and since I'm almost done with my last uni assignment and life has been a bit up and down, I've found at-home pampering to be a great escape! So I thought today's post could be all about these at-home pamper tips (for cheap!) that I like to use to really give myself some well-deserved me time, since we all need a little distraction from stresses every now and again! 

Update #4 | A Salad & A Smoothie

I've put on weight. Not a crazy amount, but I can definitely tell the difference from last September and now.. let's just say I really let myself go! I really doesn't help that my boyfriend is as skinny as a rake and can eat whatever he likes.. I feel like all of the weight he's supposed to be putting on just comes straight over to me! Also, since I am a huge commitment-phobe and I have a huge lack of concentration and focus, I can't seem to keep up with things like working out and going to the gym. So I basically have 2 choices, I can either sit here covered in cookie crumbs, sobbing over a huge tub of chocolate ice-cream, or I can suck it up and get off my bum -  I've decided that the latter is definitely a better option if I actually want to live to be 21 and not turn into an actual chocolate muffin.

Hair Saviours | feat. John Frieda

If you follow me on Twitter you will know that around a month ago I made a drastic change with my hair! (by the way, if you're not following me yet you should - @jemmasimplelife *shameless plug*) I've always had super long, brunette hair and the most I've ever really done to it was get it permed (yeah I know..) when I was 11. But I was long loooong overdue a trim, so I decided to make a huge change and actually get my hair highlighted bleach blonde and cut into a lob!! Obviously because my hair was already so dark it came out an ashy blonde shade, however, this is such a big change for me - not only with the colour but also the length!! When I first got it done I was a bit critical, I think since it was such a big difference and I was so used to my long hair, but now I am starting to like it a bit more and I don't just stick it up in a messy bun 24/7 like I used to! I still am not overly happy about the length and I think I want it to grow out a little more since a lob doesn't completely suit me, but I am glad I got it cut, since my split ends were getting a bit out of hand and now my hair feels super healthy again!
