Hello, Gorgeous! | 6 Ways To Feel Beautiful & Confident

The one beauty tip that I will always live by is to remember how beautiful you already are. We've all been there though, on those days where nothing seems to be going right - you've just spent way too long on your makeup and actually decide that it looked better before you even started, and your hair won't seem to behave at all. You're a mess and you genuinely don't feel beautiful one bit - trust me I've been there! So I thought today I would share some tips to help you(/us!) to feel beautiful again on those days where nothing seems to work and to give us all a little confidence boost when we need it!

THINK TALL! // It has been proven that when you stand and sit up straight your brain will automatically think 'I feel good about myself!' So watch your posture and sit/stand up tall, the more you practice good posture the more likely you are to just naturally stand and sit that way in every day life! Also, good posture naturally makes you appear more confident, which will help you to feel better about yourself too. Try it now if you haven't already - keep your shoulders back and your chest open! Not only will this make you feel more confident, it will also make you look taller and slimmer BONUS!

IGNORE THE FLAW // When we don't like something about our face we always tend to focus in on that when we look in the mirror - this can instantly make you feel less beautiful and confident! And I know it can be difficult sometimes to just admire those flaws, especially when we're having one of those days! So instead, try to focus on another area of your face or your body that you do admire - because I know that we all have that one thing! Trust me, this will lift your whole mood and make you feel so much better again.

SAY CHEESE!! // Yes, you guessed it, smile! A smiling face has been found to be so much more attractive than a non-smiling face - so just look at yourself in the mirror and smile! It has to be genuine though, because let's face it no one looks good when they're grimacing!! So think of something that makes you genuinely laugh or smile and there you have it! This will also help to boost your mood and make you feel more confident!

AND.. RELAX // Tenseness in your face and body can not only make you feel like rubbish but also not look your best either - and this goes hand in hand with one of those annoying days where nothing seems to go right, since I always end up getting super stressed which makes me look and feel worse! So instead, just look at yourself in the mirror and take 3 deep breaths. This will make you feel more relaxed and in control - and also help you to feel more confident.

TAKE THE COMPLIMENTS! // I know that we all find it difficult to receive and accept compliments at times, since sometimes we just don't believe that what they're saying is actually true! But next time someone tells you that your hair looks great today, or your eyeliner is on point - try just saying 'Thank You!' instead of batting them away! This will instantly make you feel better about yourself and also make the person who complimented you feel good too - it's a win-win situation!

MEDIA SCH-MEDIA! // Unless you live under a rock you've probably been flooded with pictures of slim, beautiful models in your time and let's be honest they make us feel like crap, especially when we aren't feeling too great about ourselves already! It's human nature to compare ourselves with these people and that can leave us feeling ugly and overweight - but just remember whenever you see this pictures that it's all Photoshop! These models bodies and faces have not only been heavily edited to make them look more beautiful and slim, but they've also got things like lighting, makeup artists and professional photographers so they are not realistic in the slightest! Instead just think about all those selfies you've taken that look absolutely bomb - you didn't even need amazing lighting or professional photographers!! *wink*

  2. There were some really important reminders in this! Yoga is something that makes me feel much more confident because it helps my posture. For the rest of the day after doing some I sit straighter and walk with more purpose

  4. Aww I absolutely loved this & I couldn't agree more with the things you've mentioned! :) I think the most important thing to remember when we feel down about ourselves is that perfection doesn't exist & that we're unique and therefore beautiful in our own way x

    1. I couldn't agree more! Perfection really doesn't exist, yet it's something that everyone strives to be - we should instead strive for uniqueness since that is what makes us truly beautiful! x

  5. I freaking love this post! This is what girls need to hear more and more of every single day. The most important thing is to embrace your flaws and just eff what media promotes, it's loads of BS right there full of Photoshop.

    1. I couldn't have put it better myself! The media needs to stop destroying young people's confidence by showing off all these photo shopped models! x

  6. I actually disagree strongly with your ignore the flaw post! I'm a massive in loving your flaws and taking the time to analyse and understand WHY you see that as a flaw. Then try to acknowledge that actually your flaw might be amazingly perfect or great etc etc. I just try to think of it positively rather than crying everytime I see my nose and trying to ignore the tears haha! Great post though, really got me thinking!!

    1. I do agree with you there and I definitely also believe in celebrating your flaws! But as I said in the post it can be difficult to love your flaws particularly on those days where you just don't feel good about yourself at all, so on those days where you can't see how those flaws just make you unique I do recommend ignoring them and focusing on the things that make you happy! Thanks for your lovely comment! x

  7. These are really good tips, 'thinking tall' always helps and so does focusing on what you like about yourself - we often focus on the negative and forget to appreciate what we like about ourselves. And it's true that social media creates a fake image of beauty and that it often leads to comparing ourselves and to trying to live up to impossible beauty standards . xx

    1. Definitely! Focusing on the negative is so bad, and 100% something that I tend to do regularly! But we never step back a focus on what makes us feel good and confident! x
