6 Things I Love About Summer

Despite working my bum off at my new job and the few rainy days we've had recently (Yes, on the first day of summer here in the UK it was completely pouring down with rain.. but let's just overlook that!) ...I am absolutely loving summer so far! I've had a few little days off here and there so I have spent a little time out in that sunshine and I am over at my Mum's this weekend so I am praying for good weather! I decided to do a quick post today about all the things I love about summer, because call me a stereotypical British girl all you like but I really do love the heat, the sun and all things summer! Be sure to let me know in the comments if you agree with any of the things I mention in this post and let me know what things you love about summer, I would love to know! ... bonus points if you can spot the amount of times I say 'absolutely love' in this post... ugh I annoy myself.

1. LONGER DAYS // Not only is it lighter in the mornings when I'm getting ready for work (yes even at 4:30am - just about!) which means I feel much more awake and ready to start the day. But I absolutely love the longer evenings! I'm definitely a night person and I swear I'm still a child because I hate when it gets dark at night and it means its time for bed, haha! But in the summertime we get such long evenings where we can go for cute walks when the sky is still navy and watch the sun set!

2. BBQ'S... FOOD!! // As a huge foodie I am a sucker for all things BBQ! You really can't beat your friends and family all gathering around a table covered in salad and bread and dips with the glorious smell of sausages and burgers cooking on the barbeque..gah! I want it all now! But it's not all about the food (well maybe a little, but..) the best part for me is definitely spending time with family and friends, as sad as it sounds, I absolutely love just chatting and laughing and making memories and I feel like the sunshine just makes this all the more special, you know!

3. MAKING MEMORIES // I always feel like summer is the best time to get out and make memories, I mean obviously in the winter its fun to wrap up warm and go ice skating or go to the Christmas market and get a hot chocolate... but I don't know, there's just something about summer that makes everyone so happy and optimistic that I absolutely love! One of my favourite parts of summer is taking way too many photos so I can look back on them when it starts to get colder again and just relive all the awesome memories!

4. ICE LOLLIES... OR WHATEVER THEY'RE CALLED! //  Because I am an actual child, there is nothing I love more on a gorgeous summer day than a lovely refreshing ice pole.. ice pop, ice lolly.. whatever the hell people call those things! Yes okay, they aren't the healthiest thing I am pretty sure that it's just pure sugar with a little bit of water and e numbers thrown in.. but ahh well, they're super refreshing and my inner child loves them so!  Obviously I am also a sucker for a yummy 99 ice cream every now and again too, but I'm not the hugest ice-cream fan so I'd much prefer an ice lolly instead!

5. LONG WALKS // You guys probably know by now that I am a huge walk-aholic.. and living by the beach this summer has only made this love stronger.. much to my boyfriends joy.. lol! I don't know what it is about walking aimlessly in the sun and having a huge chat that I love so much, but its good for you so why not!

6. NO WORRIES // As a huge anxious worry-pot summer is like a massive weight off my shoulders - uni is done for now and I really don't have as many worries as I do when the school year starts back up again! I can really just put my feet up for a while and enjoy the sunshine without having that nagging worry in the back of my head saying that I have things I need to be doing! I feel like this year I have even less worries for once, because I somehow tackled having 2 jobs last summer (sometimes working both in the same day... I don't know how I did it!) but the stress of those 2 jobs (that we're both fairly demanding and worry-some!) meant that I couldn't fully enjoy my summer.. so I made sure that this year I actually put myself first and now I have a job with no worries and where I can actually enjoy myself and I'm loving it!

  6. These are the same reasons that I love about summer too, I always look forward to it because everything just seems better, right? I think it lifts everyone else's moods too which is a bonus. I absolutely love BBQ's too, so I am hoping the weather picks up soon!!! What's summer without a BBQ!? Love this post :) xx
