Thoughts Of A Blogger

I've been blogging for around 7-8 months now (and I'm also about to hit a big milestone.. but more on that in an upcoming post.. so watch this space!) and although this isn't such a long time compared to others, I feel like I have learned so much and I'm still learning new things every day! Over this time I've also had my fair share of blogger struggles and also experienced all the little thoughts that a lot of us bloggers have on what feels like a daily basis! So, I thought I would share some of those thoughts all us bloggers tend to have whether you're completely new to blogging or whether you've been blogging for years really! (and also attempt to answer them, in my own opinion!) - so that you and I can feel like we're not the only ones.. because I'm pretty sure that a lot of you out there feel the same way every now and again.. at least I hope!! If you guys have any other ideas of any blogger thoughts that you would like to share, feel free to share them in the comments - I would love to have a read!

1. HOW MUCH SHOULD I ADVERTISE MY BLOG? // We all know that advertising on social media is the best way to get views and I see that most bloggers tend to advertise a few of their posts on Twitter every now and again over the span of a day.. but how much is too much?! I actually had this dilemma recently, since obviously the more you advertise the more views you are bound to get right.. and the more views you get the more people it will reach and the bigger your blog will become- but at the same time if you pop up on people's twitter feeds every 30 minutes asking them to read your latest post it can become quite annoying! So, you see my dilemma right! I honestly don't really have an answer for this one.. I tend to stick to 1 advertising tweet per hour - but it also depends on how active I'm going to be on twitter that day, so if I'm not really planning on tweeting anything other than advertising all day then I'll do a tweet every 2 hours-ish - I guess it's just up to you really!

2. AM I A GOOD ENOUGH WRITER TO START BLOGGING?// This one obviously applies heavily to those of you who are thinking about starting blogging! I remember when I first started thinking about blogging and I was put off mainly due to the fact that I've never really been a good writer - I thought back to when I'd write essays and coursework for school and had a huge cringe.. I've never been that good at creative writing and never really got any good grades on coursework, haha! But honestly, starting blogging regardless of my writing abilities is the best decision I've ever made - not only does it really not matter how good you are at writing, it actually really helps to build your confidence with writing and helps to improve your writing abilities! As long as you have a passion for what you're writing about you could probably ramble for hours - trust me, I never thought I'd be able to fill a webpage with my ramblings and I've done it more that enough times, haha!!

3. WHAT DO I DO IF I'VE COMPLETELY RAN OUT OF IDEAS? // A lot of bloggers are probably nodding in agreement right now, I might even go as far as to say this is the biggest struggle for most bloggers because once you get yourself into that slump where you have no motivation or ideas it's quite difficult to get out of unfortunately! The best thing that I can suggest is finding motivation in others - so have a read of different blogs and gain inspiration from the things they are writing about, don't necessarily steal their ideas (unless you credit them, of course!) but just use them to come up with your own ideas and posts! I also suggest searching through different hashtags on twitter to find ideas - what I tend to do is search for a topic and then put blog after the name of the topic and scroll through the different posts that pop up! There's no way around it though really, some day's you'll just have no ideas at all - but just remember that there will also be days where you're flooded with inspiration and ideas so be sure to write everything down and also carry a little notebook with you where ever you go because you never know where or when all these ideas will hit you!

4. WHAT CATEGORY OF BLOGGER DO I FIT INTO? There are so many different niche's when it comes to blogging nowadays from your fitness bloggers to your food bloggers - there are so many categories you can represent! But what if you can't decide which you want to fit into...? The first thing that I would say is to remember that you don't need to fit under one category of blogger if you don't want to.. if you want to write about your favourite eyeshadow one week, but then talk about your day out to the beach the next week that's perfectly fine - in fact, that's probably better since by doing this you can broaden the variety of posts you can share which means more ideas! Also, the best piece of advice I can give is, just write about what you are passionate about, as I said before in order to write a good post you need have a passion for whatever it is you are rambling about - if that means that you fit into a category then great, but if not don't worry!

5. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I POST?! Every blogger out there has a completely different schedule when it comes to publishing their posts; some post daily, whereas others only post once or twice a month!  I feel like you're the only one who should make the decision of how often you would like to post - base it around your lifestyle and what you get up to on a daily basis; if you work 9-5 every day maybe post less than someone who spends more of their time at home! It's important to just consider what you personally can handle and what is comfortable for you! Pesonally, as a bit of a blog-aholic I post every other day because I really love writing and it has definirely become  Also remember that you don't even necessarily need a schedule at all - if you feel like posting 6 days a week in one week and then only 1 time the next week that's absolutely fine, just do what you feel comfortable doing really!

    1. Definitely! I guess outsiders just see blogging as being really simple - I mean you just write your thoughts out right..?! But it's so much more than that! x

  2. Great points! The 4th one especially speaks to me. I find there's so much talk about finding a niche that it almost sounds like being a basic lifestyle blogger isn't worth the time and effort. I agree with people though; finding a niche can bring great success but so can running a fun little beauty and lifestyle blog. But like you said, we shouldn't worry about it too much and just write about our passions!

I'm also struggling with promotion and advertising atm. Sometimes I feel my Twitter page is just filled with promo and that doesn't look good. I usually schedule promo tweets for every other hour... and it seems to be working fine.

    1. Couldn't agree more! I'd LOVE to be just a beauty blog, but there just isn't enough to write about.. I'm also not made of money, haha! Writing about whatever you have a passion for is really the best place to start I think!

Hmm, I understand what you mean, it can be difficult to strike the balance between getting your blog out there and not being overly annoying! I still haven't managed it myself yet! x

  5. I am nodding in agreement to so many of these! I worry that I promote my blog to much but at the same time it works and no one had complained. I actually don't think people really notice unless it is really excessive. We probably all worry over nothing xx

  7. Great post, I blog about beauty, life, style and a little bit of fitness so I sometimes struggle with what my niche should be. I hate self promoting and sharing my posts on social media so that's also hard for me. And having constant ideas for posts is another challenge I face every few weeks. New follower :)

    1. I 100% relate with you on the niche thing.. but I guess it doesn't really matter as long as we have a passion for what we're writing about! :) x

  8. I also came across a lot of these dilemmas and even though I've had my blog for 5 months, I quickly became discouraged over the first few months. I'm slowly finding some motivation to getting back into it and this definitely helped a lot. It's always nice to know this is a common struggle us bloggers face :)
