Update #8 | Cornwall Holiday Snaps

I genuinely just let out a huge sigh before I started writing this post; two weeks ago I was sitting out in the Cornish sunshine with a glass of wine and here I am back home surrounded by cardboard boxes after a long day of work.. I am having serious holiday blues. I guess it's mainly because now I know that summer is pretty much over and it's time to go back to the boring stuff like work and uni.. ugh, oh well - at least I get to break out the spiced scented candles and winter coats soon! But yes, I really did have an amazing and relaxing week away in the sunshine with my lovely family and I wanted to share a few of the many many pictures I took whilst I was away and give you a little snippet into my week! Also, if you missed my last post and want to know what else I got up to this summer click here - I promise there will be cute kittens... I'm not even kidding, haha! Now if that hasn't gotten you interested I don't know what will!

So we stayed in a gorgeous proper cottagey styled house (?) in the middle of nowhere in a little place called Bodmin, which was so nice - I can't tell you how refreshing it was to actually get away from busy roads and constant noise since I live in a flat on a main road (and bus route.. ugh!) so it was pretty nice to get away from that, haha! The one issue was that there wasn't any wifi, yeah like none whatsoever and for someone who only has 500MB of data on her phone.. thats a pretty big issue - I actually ended up going over my data allowance, oops.. I just couldn't help myself! Anyway, back to the house... I actually didn't get any pictures of the house, even though I did mean to because it was really really cute, but you'll just have to trust me on that one. Me and Ethan had the bedroom which took up the entire top floor, which although was pretty lush and meant we had a massive room it was also a little creepy since we were super far away from everyone else in the house! I must admit a lot of my data went towards listening to podcasts at night since it was super dark and quiet at night - I love not being on a main road until it gets to around 1am and then it just gets creepily quiet... haha! Other than that there was also a big games room with a pool table and table tennis which kept us all occupied in the evenings and on the colder days so that was pretty good!

On one of the lovely sunny days we were treated with we decided it would be a great idea to go for a little walk... well, it turned into a huge 4-5 hour walk in the end and although I did love exploring the Cornish countryside I did not come prepared at all in my little flip flops.. my feet did not love me one bit! The picture of me above was taken about 10 minutes in to the walk and I can assure you I did not look like that come hour 3 or even 2 to be honest, haha! I also suffered from terrible hay fever and watery eyes whilst we were there, but when you're surrounded by many many fields there's not really much you can do - so I did end up with an ice pack most nights since I had pretty swollen eyes! Obviously we also had many a barbecue whilst we were there which I absolutely loved - give me coleslaw and a couple of burger and I'm a happy bunny, lol!

We also explored a few of the little towns nearby, venturing into Bodmin itself for a sunny afternoon in a pub garden, going over to Polperro in search of a sandy beach and instead getting this amazing view of the sea and snapping some photos of the cute beachy houses in the town, then actually finding a massive and also very very busy sandy beach in Looe (I was adament that I was going to sit out on a sandy beach at least once on this holiday since in my hometown we only have a pebble beach and it's rubbish, haha! We obviously had a Cornish pasty in nearly every town we went to by the way - honestly I never get tired of eating Cornish pasties in Cornwall.. they're just so yummy! On one of the colder days we also went to a really cute boat museum called Charlestown Shipwreck and Heritage Centre which we all actually found pretty interesting and I really enjoyed sitting out in the last of the sun in the evenings reading my book and drinking a glass of wine.. ugh it was heaven. I actually managed to finish two books whilst I was there including While My Eyes Were Closed from my Summer Reading List  post and oh my goodness that book was so good, I genuinely could not put it down.. towards the end of the week I would've happily just not left the house because I was so into my book, oops! I also finished Gone Girl for anyone who's interested and I completely agree with pretty much everyone else's opinion that it is an amazing read but the ending was pretty meh, haha! But yeah.. I honestly wish I had taken about a billion more pictures but I actually only ended up taking my camera out with me on a couple of the days because the battery decided to run out.. rubbish!

But there you go, there was my little holiday snaps post, I hope you enjoyed reading about my family trip away! I seriously can't put into words how much of a good time I had and this post has definitely made me want to go back - you should've seen me on the Sunday (we got back Saturday afternoon), I had work at 6am and I was not a happy bunny to say the least! I hope you all enjoyed your summer holidays too, let me know if you went anywhere nice so I can get really jealous and go and sulk about the fact that I go back to uni in a few weeks.. oh no!

  1. Ahh I absolutely love Cornwall! Polperro is one of my favourite places to visit and we've been quite a few times (we stayed in one of the cottages in your photos!) I haven't been to Bodmin before, but it sounds and looks lovely!

  2. Beautiful pictures, it looks like you had a great time in Cornwall (minus the hay fever). I visited St. Ives 4 years ago and I've wanted to go back ever since. I really hope I can do a weekend trip this year. I have never visited Bodmin but I'll make sure to add this place to my list xx
