Autumn Essentials

You're probably all bored of hearing this but clearly I can't say it enough... Autumn is my favourite season! And although in my own little world Autumn has been upon us for at least a month already, now that the shops are all stocking pumpkins and even Christmas bits I feel like I can properly unleash the true excitement I have about Autumn.. haha! So yes I am for sure getting out the fluffy socks, sticking on a bit of Hocus Pocus and getting cosy with my pumpkin scented candles! Now, during Autumn there are a number of essentials that are absolutely necessary to live the season to the fullest, to feel the most festive and the most Autumnal! I've decided to write this little post just to let you guys know what a few of my Autumn essentials are this year! Let me know if you agree with any of the things on my list and also comment if I've missed anything out that you definitely need to have the best Autumn, haha!

It goes without saying, fluffy socks are an absolute MUST for this time of year, the nights are getting colder and darker and there's nothing worse than having freezing cold feet! I always love to stick on some cosy, fluffy socks or my new favourite slippers that I got from Primark recently - their memory foam too, so super comfy cosy! And whilst we're on the subject of comfy cosy, why not just add a couple of blankets to the mix?! I have a small selection of soft, cosy blankets that I love to get out during Autumn, in fact I do spend most of my time either snuggled up on the sofa with my blanket on or walking round the house with my blanket wrapped around me like a cape... I don't like being cold, haha! Blankets are just an absolute essential for me this time of year - there's nothing better than snuggling up with a blanket and watching XFactor, I just love it so much! Obviously to complete the cosy vibe you may as well just light a candle too! Candles during this time of year are just amazing. Give me anything pumpkin scented or spiced and I am in heaven! I just love making my house smell so festive, so I really do burn a candle most evenings this season (and obviously during Christmas too! - Give me those mulled wine and pine scented candles!) it just makes the house so cosy and festive - you can't beat it! Another way that absolutely love to make my house feel cosy and festive this time of year is by putting fairy lights EVERYWHERE! I have fairy lights going up my stairs, on every mantle and pretty much in every room... maybe a little overboard.. nah, haha! Fairy lights are the perfect way to bring a little bit of Autumn into your house, I definitely love warm coloured lights this time of year because they look so cute and snug!

One thing I can definitely say that I love doing during Autumn is having a bath. I am a huge bath person and I pretty much spend every waking hour in my bath, with some sort of bath goody! So bath treats are absolute must for me - especially when it comes to Lush bath products, I always stock up on them this time of year, not only because I love to get all snug and warm in a gorgeous Autumn scented bath where I come out smelling like an Autumn day (as good as that sounds.. haha!) but my body also needs a good moisturise during this time of year and Lush products definitely do a good job at nourishing and pampering dry skin. This is why a good body moisturiser is also on my list of essentials because after a good bath I always like to pamper my skin with some extra nourishing - why not give it a treat!? My hands also tend to get dry this time of year so I always make sure to have a good hand moisturiser at arms reach at all times. Hand Food by Soap and Glory does just the trick and keeps my hands soft and smooth during the colder months. Whilst in the bath not only do I love watching a good YouTube video on my phone but I also love to (carefully.. without getting it wet!) read a good book! I feel like especially during this time of year I love to get cosy with my fairy lights and my hot chocolate and just get engrossed in books - I really want to start reading The Girl On The Train some point soon, so you can bet I will be reading that in the bath! When I'm not in the bath I definitely love watching movies during this season, although I'd love to stay 'on trend' with the season and say that I can be found watching scary movies... but I definitely am a wuss when it comes to scary movies, so I tend to stick to things like The Nightmare Before Christmas and Hocus Pocus instead, haha!

Other than baths, getting cosy and drinking hot chocolate I also LOVE to go on Autumn walks, you seriously can't beat a cute little walk in the park during this time of year, when the trees look so gorgeous and you can wrap up warm and be all snug! (How many times can I say snug, haha?!) When I wrap up warm you can bet that I will be wearing a fluffy, oversized scarf, I have quite the selection of oversized scarves actually and I just love wrapping up in them. Not only do I get to be comfortable and cosy but I can also just cover up whatever mess is going on underneath.. haha I can wear full on comfy clothes and no one even knows! Although we haven't quite said goodbye to the sun just yet, during the end of Autumn when it really does start to get cold I definitely break out the oversized jumpers too. (everything oversized and I love it, haha!) I just love throwing on a big fluffy, warm jumper when it's cold out! In terms of makeup, one trend that I really love during this time of year is dark, vampy lips and eyes - although I'm not always the biggest fan of lipstick I do sometimes try to pull off a dark berry lip or even a classic red with a darker twist! If I'm not feeling the lips I tend to go for a darker eye makeup look, using brick reds and purples to create a darker look than I would usually go for. I also love to go for this on my nails, berry reds are 100% my favourite colour for my nails and I feel like Autumn is the only time that I really try to keep my nails looking nice, because I can just go for my favourite berry red or purple colour!

  2. I adore fall! I won't shut up about it on my blog either. I love anything cozy. My mom knitted me some comfy socks that I'm wearing. I have probably about twenty candles sitting around my home too. :)

  5. Im definitely on the same page as you when you say you're not the biggest fan of lipstick- there's just something about having some substance on my lips makes me super conscious about it or I'm afraid that it looks weird on me... Oh well, haha! Autumn is my favourite season too, and it's such a shame that it lasted for a bout 2 weeks here in Canada. And I had so many autumnal posts planned too. On with coziness and comfort in general, right? OMG. New post idea. "The comfort issue". Okay. It's happening, haha!! xx
