Every Day Makeup | Autumn

The transition from Summer into Autumn is probably my favourite time of year, not only the transition in weather (because let's face it, we're all bored of the heat by mid August.. even if we don't get much sun here in the UK!) or the transition in clothing from pastels and strappy tops to burgundys and oranges and oversized jumpers. Mainly I love the transition in makeup! I must admit, now that I have to wake up at 5:15am for work I really can't ever be bothered to do my makeup and I've barely worn any for the last couple of months, but trust me since the weather has been getting colder and we've been getting further into Autumn I haven't been able to stay away from my Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette! I feel like Autumn is the best time to experiment with different makeup trends and get a little bit out of your comfort zone, whether you want to try out a more dark, vampy look or go for a bolder lip colour - you can't really go wrong! So I recently realised that I've never really shared my every day makeup routine with you lot, and since my Autumn makeup routine is a just slightly more interesting than every other time of year, I thought now would be the best time to finally write this post! (I also haven't written a makeup post in bloody ages, so it's about time!) Also, let me know what makeup you are wearing this Autumn down in the comments, I definitely need an excuse to go out and buy new makeup, haha!

For my base I tend to go with my old faithful Rimmel Match Perfection in the shade ivory, which I have known and loved for years now. During the Autumn I tend to embrace my inevitable paleness (and usually the fact that I haven't managed to tan for the entire Summer!) so this foundation is normally a shade lighter than what I would have used for Summer when I was desperately trying to not look like a ghost! I obviously use my desperately in need of a clean beloved beauty blender, because you seriously cannot go wrong with one of these... if you are still using brushes to apply your foundation, what are you doing?! Haha! I then go in with my trusty Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer in the shade ivory which again, I have known and loved for years, I genuinely have at least 6 of these sitting in my makeup bag... honestly at least 2 are empty but if this doesn't show how much I love this concealer then what does?!- I actually keep toying with the idea of getting the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer that everyone rants and raves about, but I don't think I can replace my Wake Me Up concealer! And then to set everything in place I take my Rimmel Stay Matte powder (I promise I'm not sponsored by Rimmel... I just clearly love their products, haha!) on a big fluffy brush - I love this powder because it gives you a natural looking matte finish that seriously does last all day. (Even in the harsh weather that Autumn brings!)

Moving onto eyebrows, I first shape and brush them through with a spoolie (love that word.. spoolie spoolie spooole.. lol.) then I go in with my Mac Eyeshadow in the shade brun, I've seriously love using this stuff for my eyebrows, It matches my hair perfectly and gives me natural looking full brows! I've actually been filling my eyebrows in slightly darker than usual recently because I've just fallen in love with this look all over again - give me them full brows! Then I like to move onto my eyes, I first prime them with Mac's Pro Longewear Paintpot in the colour Painterly, this just gives me a creamy base to put my eyeshadow onto - it makes my eyeshadow last longer without creasing and it also gets rid of any discolouration that is naturally on my eyelids!

Then I get to the fun part! I feel like eyeshadow is one of the main areas that I love experimenting with in the Autumn, for a night out I love going for darker, vampy colours and I tend to mix a dark purple with brick red colours for a real vampy, Autumnal look! But for everyday I like to go for a more subtle look that still sticks with that vampy theme, I usually like to use my Zoeva Coca blend palette that has a gorgeous brick red colour called Freshly Toasted or Warm Notes which is a shimmery pink toned berry shade - perfect for Autumn if you ask me! Or I go for my Makeup Revolution Fortune Favours The Brave palette. (I've written a full review of this palette here if you're interested!) This palette has so many purple and berry shades that I love using this time of year and it also features a tonne of more natural brown shades that I tend to like blending in with these berry shades to achieve a darker look! Berries and purple are a must for this time of year, which is why I love the Autumn transition so much, I seriously can't wait to break out these colours because I feel like they suit me so well!

I then go in with my Maybelline Master Precise eyeliner for a cute winged look, I feel like I genuinely would not look right if I didn't wear eyeliner with my makeup - some people can seriously pull this off, but it's not me, haha! I've used so many eyeliners in the past, including more high end, expensive ones - but I always come back to the Master Precise one, I just find it so amazing for the price and they always seem to last me forever too. For my eyelashes I go in with my eyelash curler (the only way I can achieve nice looking eyelashes...) and my Maybelline Colossal Go! Extreme Volum' mascara, I actually only recently purchased this and I've already fallen in love with it and added it to my every day makeup routine! The wand is seriously perfect for me and my eyelashes need all the help they can get so I will definitely be purchasing this one again!

Then I like to add the finishing touches to my look, first of all I take my Phisicians Formula Bronze Booster bronzer and add a very small amount to my temple and cheek bones just so my face looks a bit more alive! I then go in with my Nars Ita brush and Sleeks Face Contour Kit and using the darker shade I carve out my cheek bones a little more. I then use Sleeks Highlighting Palette in Solstice (I've done a full review of this here if you want to have a little read!) and seriously glow up my face, I love quite a highlighted look so I tend to use a mix of Hemisphere and Equinox for a proper glowy look!

I don't always do my lips, I actually usually tend to just leave them as they are and let my eyes be the focus - but if I've gone for a more subtle eye look I might stick a bit of lippy on! For Autumn I'd definitely go for a berry toned shade of lipstick or a dark, vampy red - both of these colours look amazing on the lips and I really wish I could pull them off every day!

  2. We literally have identical autumn everyday makeup. I live for the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation (same shade too!) freshly toasted is one of my favourite shades in the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette, it's totally stunning, especially Warm Notes as well! I feel the same about eyeliner, I always use the Maybelline Master Precise, I just feel like I take off 5 years of my age if I don't wear it! xx
