What I'll Be Wearing This Autumn | Autumn Style Picks

I am in no way a fashion blogger... in fact, when it comes to clothes most of the time I just chuck whatever on and hope for the best! I really am pretty lazy with fashion most of the time and I tend to wear the same staple items for each season of the year, but I feel like Autumn is definitely my best season for buying and wearing loads of new and different clothes and also for getting out of my comfort zone a little bit - especially when it comes to colours, since I tend to go for black, whites and greys most of the year, haha! There are obviously so many clothing essentials when it comes to Autumn, from boots to scarves to oversized jumpers and I wanted to share some of my favourite pieces that I think are vital for this time of year! Let me know if you agree with my picks for this season and also tell me if I missed anything from my list that you love wearing this time of year, I'd love to know!

1. CHUNKY KNIT OVERSIZED SCARVES // It goes without saying, scarves are an essentials part of this time of year! Whether you're off to a lecture, out for an Autumn walk or enjoying the fireworks on Bonfire Night a scarf can be the ultimate accessory to any outfit and it'll keep you warm as the days get colder! I seriously have a weird obsession with huge oversized (blanket like!) scarves that are checked especially when they come in burgundy or burnt orange-ish colours because that is just absolutely perfect for Autumn. I love chucking them over the top of any outfit paired with either my thinner beige coat or my much warmer and comfier black coat for colder days! My favourite scarf that I own is actually a reversible one which means you can achieve two different looks with it - on one side it has a green, black and subtle blue checked print on it and on the other side is a black and white checker-board type print. (link) I must admit I tend to go for the green print more often than the other, but I love having the option of changing up the look if I'm feeling the black and white more!

2. RIPPED SKINNY JEANS // Ripped skinny jeans are a staple that I pretty much wear every season (and every day if I could, haha!) it's pretty difficult to believe that I actually went around 5 years without ever wearing jeans because I didn't like the way they felt or looked on me! I now wear them pretty much every day and I love everything about them - I remember the day I finally went out and bought jeans and I was like oh my god, this is what I've been missing out on?! But ripped skinny jeans are a huge trend that am in love with right now, pair them with a cute little pair of boots and you are good to go - you will look amazing, haha! I especially love black ripped skinny jeans at the moment, you know the ones that are ripped all over and not just at the knee. (link) I find these so flattering on me with a cute oversized jumper for the colder weather or even a coat with one my scarves is definitely an outfit I have been loving lately!

3. BOOTS // My boots were pretty much begging to come out of my shoe storage since the end of August, I find all of my boots so comfortable compared to the pumps and sandals I've been wearing all summer long and to be honest I can't wait to stop painting my toe nails and just let them be free to look gross, haha! My first favourite pair of boots is my simple black boots. (similar) Unfortunately I've had these for few years now and I can't actually remember where I got them from, but they are the most comfortable boots ever! I love pairing them with jeans or leggings with a long oversized jumper and it just works as a simple outfit that still looks pretty cute if I say so myself, haha! My other favourite boots are my chelsea boots (link) and oh my god, I love these! They're comfortable, they just simply dress up any outfit to make you look more put together and like you spent longer than you actually did putting your outfit together... which is exactly what I need, haha! The only downside with my particular chelsea boots is that I haven't actually worn them that many times and they're already scuffed on the top. I think this is because the material isn't the best quality and they were fairly cheap for a pair of boots, so if you're looking for them to last a bit longer I wouldn't opt for the ones I bought!

4. PINAFORES // Pinafores are another huge trend that I am trying desperately to pull off this year! I actually went out recently and bought a burnt orange pinafore from Primark (they have loads of different colours if you're interested!) and honestly I am yet to build up the courage to actually wear it out - I mean it does look kind of nice, but I also kind of feel like I'm 5... I might go out and buy a black one first so I can ease myself into the idea of wearing it out (orange might be a bit of a big step for me, haha!) I actually saw a girl recently who was wearing black pinafore with a white, sleeveless, lacy top underneath and I loved it so much that I went out and bought a top similar to go under mine and it does look pretty good to be honest so if I do build enough confidence to wear the pinafore I would pair it with that top, black tights and either boots or pumps!

5. ANYTHING WOOL AND OVERSIZED // If you know me you know that I love everything huge and oversized when it comes to clothes! So Autumn is pretty good for since I can bring out all of my oversized, comfy, wool jumpers and just be so cosy and warm. I love pairing my huge jumpers with leggings because a lot of them are long enough that they come quite low and tend to cover my bum - I seriously love this look paired with some boots! I also love jumpers with a big neck so that they fall off one shoulder, this gives me another excuse to be super comfy since I love the look of sports bras when your straps are exposed - so that means ultimate comfort! My favourite oversized jumper is my burnt orange jumper (in the picture above) since this colour pretty much screams Autumn and it is the comfiest thing ever!

6. HATS // Hats are a great accessory for Autumn, whether you prefer a beanie for ultimate comfort and warmth or a classic floppy hat so that you can look put together and classy! I actually don't own any beanies (I mean I'm sure I have some lurking around in a drawer somewhere, but none that are recent or that I like wearing!) and I definitely aim to go and get some this year, just because they really are super cosy and warm for this time of year - I feel like I'd get so much use out of them when we go on Autumn walks, or when I walk to uni, as long as I don't mind hat hair when I have to take it off, haha! I do however own a few floppy hats that I love wearing this time of year - my favourite one being my simple black floppy hat (similar) that just fits with any outfit, I actually bought this a fair few years ago and I've worn it so many times, I think it's definitely time I went out and updated it! My other favourite is this berry toned floppy hat (link) which although it is a lot more difficult to pair with an outfit since it's not quite as versatile as black, I love wearing it this time of year because again the colour screams Autumn and it makes me feel so festive!

7. CHOKERS // As someone who is not the biggest fan of necklaces or many other types of jewellery I am actually really loving the choker trend this Autumn. I own a fair few including a burgundy toned one from New Look (similar) which I love pairing with low cut, black tops and black jeans for a more vampy look but also I recently purchased this set from boohoo (link) which includes three different colours for three different looks - I definitely can't wait to try the pale pink colour just as a bit of a change from the normal black and white that I tend to go for! I am also loving tops with chokers that are attached to them at the moment, I recently picked one up from Primark in black (similar) and I love the way it spices up a simple outfit and makes it a little more edgy and classy.

  1. Sounds like a perfectly chic fall wardrobe to me! I've been reaching for all the same pieces, minus the scarves. But once it gets cold enough, those will definitely come out too :D
