A New Year Of Blogging

As I've said before, I don't tend to make new years resolutions, because I never stick to them and they just give me unnecessary anxiety. I do however see the new year as a fresh start and it has definitely made me want to up my blogging game! As I said in my last post my blog turns two this year and that makes me super excited to get really into blogging and making my blog better. It's going to be tough because I've also got my dissertation to worry about but you need a good challenge every now and again, so I'm going to try my absolute best. So today I wanted to share a few tips for starting and preparing for a new year of blogging. All those little things you can do to set your new blogging year off to a great start, since I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to up their blogging game this year - So here's the best place to start if you want to do the same! I hope you enjoy and feel free to share your own tips in the comments below.

BACKGROUND // The first thing I did this year was go on a little trip to town, I went in search of a new background for my flatlays and also for a simple white background in general. I desperately needed a new background since my marble laminate background was getting a little bit tatty and also is anyone else getting bored of marble flatlays now... oh god, don't hate me, haha! So I went on my merry way to The Range and picked up some really inexpensive white card that is the perfect size for any flatlay... I'm definitely showing it off in the picture above by the way, how good does it look?! I feel like getting a fresh new background can be just the thing you need for a new year of blogging - it will give your pictures a whole new look and it just generally feels better to use something new, you know?!

LAYOUT + CLEAN UP // One thing that I've seen a lot of bloggers doing for the new year is switching up their blog layouts and getting a whole new blog design! Although I'm not going to do this myself because I had a lovely friend design my blog design not too long ago and I really can't be bothered to change it at the moment, (I'm super lazy) if you're looking for a fresh new start I definitely recommend it! Having a clean new blog layout just makes you feel so motivated and ready to up your blogging game and it can be exactly what you need to start off the new year right! It's also the perfect time to have a blog spring clean and get rid of anything that you don't want there anymore, tweak some pages that need updating and just generally clean up your blog!

ANALYTICS // Something I've definitely already done to start of my blogging year is look back at my analytics and my stats for the last few months and the last year in general really! If you haven't already linked up your blog to Google Analytics I definitely recommend it, you can get an insight into not only how many people check into your blog every day but also your audience and what type of people click onto your blog page - it's also a good idea to have a look at what type of content people love best so you can cater well to your audience in the new year and give them what they love!

PROPS // Whilst on the hunt for a new background I also had a sneaky little look for some new blog props too, mainly just in the form of new ornaments and trinkets. (since our house is pretty much bare after taking down all the Christmas decorations.. ugh) Although my hunt for general trinkets and tat wasn't that successful I definitely recommend that you get out to your local TKMaxx or Home Bargains to get yourself some new blog photo props. Having new props can just spruce up your photos and give them something new for 2017 it can also be exactly what you need to be motivated to up your blogging game!

PLANNER // One way to ensure amazing organisation for 2017 is to get yourself a new planner, that way you can stay on top of your blogging schedule, you can write in there when you need to write posts, take pictures for posts and also when posts need to be published and you'll be the master of blog organisation! There are also some gorgeous journals and planners out there that I need to get my hands on!

  4. I feel good knowing that I knew what Google analytics are... but so shameful I had to Google flatlays! I've been missing some great shots because the background wasn't right - it's such a simple answer, thank you for enlightening me! I feel silly
