Things I've Been Loving Lately

As you may have noticed, I've kind of ditched doing monthly favourites... I guess I just never really enjoyed writing those posts because I'm such a fan of routine that I could hardly ever think of anything new that I've used and loved each month - I just tend to stick to using the same products which, let's be honest, would make a very very boring monthly favourites, haha! So I did it for a year and now I've decided to just ditch it completely. It's pretty nice not having the pressure of trying to think up some new things that I can write a bit about the night before it's due to be published! But naturally, I now have some new things that I've bought recently and want to share *rolls eyes*! So I've decided to start a bit of a new 'thing' on my blog called 'Things I've Been Loving Recently' where I share anything that I've been loving recently - so it's like favourites without the pressure of it being monthly, I suppose. But yes, I hope you enjoy - let me know if you want to see more posts like this and also please share some of the things you've been loving recently in the comments, I would love to know!

ONE LINE A DAY: FIVE YEAR MEMORY BOOK // I'm obviously super late to this bandwagon (as I am with most things...) and I feel like the five year memory book was a craze like over 4 years ago now... maybe even longer, oops! But anyways, I've been toying with the idea of getting one for a really really long time now and I thought with it being kind of the start of the year I might as well just give in and treat myself to one. I've been writing in it for around 2 weeks now and not only has it made me realise how boring my life is at the moment, it's also made me realise how many baths I take! (Honestly, pretty much every day ends with '... and then I had a well deserved bath' I'm starting to think I'm kidding myself with this 'well deserved' crap, haha!)  But anywho, I seriously love the idea of keeping this for five years of my life, but to think I'll be 25 when it's finished is such a scary realisation! I'm sure it will be so much fun to look back and see what I was doing though, especially since it's now my last year of university so I'll be able to look back and laugh at how stressed I was... haha! I do wish I had started it in my first year of university though, but never mind. I also love how as you go back to the start of the diary for the next year you can read what you did a year ago today or 2 years ago today (it's like Timehop but hopefully not as embarrassing...) and I've heard some people say that their years weirdly correlate and sometimes you find yourself doing something similar on the same day each year so it'll be fun to see if there's any spooky patterns!

LIZ EARLE CLEANSE AND POLISH // The Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser is something I bought at the start of the year and I instantly knew I wanted to share with you guys! I know, it's another bandwagon that I'm seriously late to, but we're used to it by now.. and I couldn't not share this because it's amazing and I don't know why I never used it before! So basically this is a cleanser that not only moisturises and purifies your skin but also removes any trace of makeup including mascara... basically my dream, because I'm lazy and never remember to treat my skin..oops! But yeah, this cleanser comes with it's own cotton cloths that you dampen under warm water after applying the cleanser all over your face and you literally just use the cloth to wipe it all away! You know that scene in Mulan when she's singing Reflection and she wipes off all her makeup with her sleeve... well you can live that dream with this cleanser, I'm not even kidding, haha! I've been using this for just over a month now and I couldn't recommend it more, it get's rid of all my makeup, instantly brightens my skin and smells amazing too - I love it and will definitely be buying more!

FIRMOO GLASSES // Now, I don't actually need glasses, I pretty much have near perfect vision and there's no point in having glasses with any sort of prescription in them, but the temptation to buy glasses has always been there! I've literally wanted glasses since I was around 15, I also used to work in an opticians, so you can imagine how annoying it was when everyone was buying gorgeous glasses and I didn't need any! (Also, all the staff members except for me wore glasses, so I was pretty left out, haha!) But I caved in recently and just decided to buy some without any prescription and I have to say, I'm so happy that I did! I got mine from Firmoo, since I love the range of glasses that they stock and I also worked with them a while back for a blog post (I'm not being sponsored this time by the way!) and I loved and still do love the sunglasses that I was given back then! I chose two very similar pairs actually, but I love them both in their own way - they're both quite thin and large rounded frames which I think really suits me, one is a dark tortoise shell colour and the other is a deep red, both with gold arms and I am so happy with both of them... now I can live out 15 year old me's dreams and look studious in my new glasses!

CAMERA LENS // Okay, I'm super excited about this one! Basically it recently dawned on me when I was filling out my new FAQ page and I was writing the camera that I use, that I have literally had the same camera for like 6 years... I'm not even kidding, I got it for Christmas AGES ago! So I decided that I definitely deserve an upgrade, since I pretty much use my camera every single day and I was starting to notice that the lens it came with wasn't quite as good as it used to be. So I did a little bit of research, realised how little I know about cameras and camera lenses and decided to be a stereotypical blogger and go for the nifty fifty! (aka: Canon 50mm f/1.8.. if you're interested!) But oh my god, I am loving it so far - I've taken tonnes of test shots and it's super easy to just get a good photo, the background blurs so amazingly and everything looks so sharp and bright and I love it! (I'm not even going to try and go into the technical stuff.. but it's just better okay, haha!) So yeah, look out for some (hopefully) better photography on the blog in the near future!

COLOUR POP EYE SHADOWS // I've finally got my hands on some colour pop makeup - woop woop! I've been eyeing up basically everything colour pop has ever come out with and I finally caved and treated myself to a few of their super shock eye shadows and a highlighter! I will definitely be doing a full review/first impressions post very very soon where I will go into detail on every shade, so keep an eye out for that, but I wanted to mention them quickly here because I've been seriously loving these recently - the shades are to die for!!

NO.7 ILLUMINATED MAKEUP MIRROR // YES! I finally got my hands on this mirror it's only just been delivered so I haven't had a chance to use it but I've literally had my eye on this for months! I just couldn't justify spending £50 on a single mirror just because it lights up.. well, boots have a sale on for No7 beauty tools at the moment making this mirror only £20!! Seriously, go and snap up that offer right now if it's still available - here's the link, thank me later, haha! I am actually so glad I got this though, mainly because of the light. (Which you can dim by the way - I love that feature!) It always seems that I end up doing my makeup in the dark at the moment, especially this time of year and annoyingly my vanity table doesn't get much light ever. So whenever I finish doing my makeup at my vanity table and then go downstairs to the bathroom I usually realise that my face doesn't match my neck or I look like a panda... so I definitely can't wait to use the light feature on this mirror next time I do my makeup! Also, I must admit although the 5x magnifying side of the mirror did seriously scare me the first time I looked into it (don't ever look at your face that close, trust me, haha!) I know it will definitely come in handy for plucking my eyebrows and applying false lashes.. when I have the courage the look at my face that close.. lol!

  1. Wow I literally love your style of writing! I could read you allllll day! I have always wanted glasses and did actually buy myself a pair for fashion reasons, fast forward to now and I have to wear prescription glasses and I hardly ever wear them. It was more fun when they were just for fashion x

  4. I love those glasses! They look a lot like the ones I just ordered, although my vision sadly is very bad haha. And I have a similar 5 year journal, only it's a Q&A a day! Lovely post!

  5. We've got some of the same favourites :)
I have a pair of Firmoo glasses that I love, they're a bit lairy and the boyf doesn't like them but I do! I also have the Line a Day journal which I've loved writing in everyday. And I don't think I know anyone who doesn't love Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish!
I need one of those illuminated mirrors though. I struggle with makeup in the morning sometimes because the lighting in my room isn't the best!
