How To | Up Your Blogging Game In 5 Minutes!

Being in my third year of university and doing my dissertation (which I've almost finished by the way... I can smell the freedom!) I've grown to appreciate how difficult it can be to maintain a blog. Since my uni workload has gone a bit hectic you may have noticed that I've struggled a fair amount trying to write and publish new posts every other day since, let alone maintain a blog and do all the little tasks that come with being a blogger and running your own blog. Luckily there are a few blog tasks out there that you can literally do when you've got a few minutes spare - little tasks that you can spend a few moments doing when you don't have too much time spare to sit down a fully sort out your blog, but these little tasks are definitely essential when it comes to up keeping your blog! Recently, I've been trying to do at least one of these tasks a day just to maintain my blog and keep it running smoothly, alongside all my uni work and also working part time - so I thought I would share my little list of blogging tasks you can get done in 5 minutes, since I know how busy us bloggers can be! Let me know if you find any of these helpful and also feel free to share your own ideas in the comments below - I've probably missed some!

REPLY TO COMMENTS // This is something I need to do more of since replying to all the lovely comments that I get on my blog can literally take around 5-10 minutes if I keep up to date and do a few a day. But the truth is, I'm terrible at replying to them and I tend to end up with a huge backlog because I'm a bad blogger... That's not to say I don't read them though.. which is silly because it takes 2 more seconds to type out a quick reply! But yeah, if you have 5 minutes spare in your day I definitely suggest having a little comment reading session - I must admit I always end up feeling super happy after I've had a quick read of my comments, you're all always so nice!

RENAME YOUR PICTURES // This is something I've recently started doing, I must admit I actually realised a long time ago that this is something that's super important when maintaining a blog and SEO.. but it's just something I never really got round to doing - especially since naming my images '1' or '2' (etc.) is the easier option (#lazyblogger). But seriously though, renaming your images takes less than 5 minutes especially if you keep up to date with them and it does wonders for your SEO and of course your online presence! I'm no professional when it comes to SEO but I believe if your images are renamed to include relevant tags you're more likely to pop up on google or google images.. so, therefore you can expect more blog views and maybe more people discovering your blog!

UPDATE YOUR PAGES // This is something I'm pretty good at doing and I try to do at least every other day! Especially if you have a stats page or media kit, it's a good idea to update those pages as often as possible and keep them up to date, this way brands who potentially want to work with you can easily get a true sense of how many blog views you've been getting recently and how many twitter followers you currently. And let's be honest, there's nothing worse than clicking on to someones stats page and seeing that it hasn't been updated in months - it takes seconds! Also, make sure you update all the other little pages you might have too.. especially your about me page - remember you age needs updating once a year, haha!

COME UP WITH IDEAS // Again, I try to do this as often as possible - especially when I'm feeling particularly inspired or having a good day when it comes to creativity! I actually have an excel spreadsheet which tells me what blog posts need to be published when and usually I'm pretty good when it comes to blog ideas so I'll have a least a month of content planned ahead, that way I feel super organised and I don't end up having a mad, last minute panic because I have no ideas for tomorrows blog post! I definitely suggest spending 5-10 minutes scrolling through twitter and bloglovin in order to get a little bit more inspired to come up with your own blog post ideas. I try and do this at least once a week and I aim to come up with at least 5 post ideas for the future - it takes no time at all!

READ OTHER BLOGS // Reading and commenting on other people's blog posts is something I wish I had more time to do! I used to do it quite a lot more actually and I genuinely can't wait to finish uni so that I have more time get back to reading all your lovely blog posts! There are some truly amazing blogs out there and I always find it so inspiring to go and have a quick read, it's also so relaxing just sitting down with a cup of coffee to read a few blog posts - I love it! You can also use commenting on blog posts as a great way of getting your blog noticed by leaving your blog URL after your comment - I love when people leave their blog link in my comments because I love discovering new blogs to read and sharing is caring, right!

  3. I always make sure I reply to every comment on my blog. I think is important to delete comments that are clearly ad's as they can affect your DA.

  6. Love this. Over the last year I've felt like I have less and less time to blog - which is so sad! Luckily there are so many things you can do for your blog when you have a few sparr minutes to keep it up and running.

  10. Loved this post. I wish I had more inspiration for my blog, I'm trying to get back into reading and commenting on others blogs to try and get back into things. If I'm honest I don't think I've updated my about me page since I wrote and published it. *hides in the corner*
