Review | Makeup Revolution Mermaids Forever Palette

Apologies for another short break, I am actually currently in the midst of finishing my dissertation completely (woo!) so I promise normal blogging will resume as soon as possible... (I'll also probably stop talking about it in every post, haha!) But yes, get excited because I'm back with a makeup review, and I don't do these very often anymore but this palette is way too gorgeous not to share! I believe this Makeup Revolution palette has actually been out for WAY longer than I expected (and I'm actually pretty annoyed that I didn't discover it sooner!) but I thought I would share it anyway - as I said, it's a gorgeous palette and perfect for Spring/Summer with all it's beautiful bright colours! I did actually write a post a long while ago on another  gorgeous Makeup Revolution palette (the Fortune Favours The Brave one) so if you want to go and have a read of another makeup review or if you love Makeup Revolution and you haven't heard of that palette (because you should - it's a great palette, haha!) then go and have a read of that one if you like! But anyway, I hope you enjoy this little review, let me know in the comments if you've tried this palette before and which shade is your favourite!

There are 32 shades to choose from in this gorgeous, bright palette! Ranging from pale whites to bright pinks to bright greens to greys and blacks - there is really something to go with any makeup look here, you could definitely go for a more subtle or natural look with the oranges or browns or opt for one of the brighter colours for a brighter look! Unfortunately, the shades in this palette do all have an element of shimmer to them and as a girl who loves matte shades I was slightly bummed about that - it does also mean that if you're travelling with this palette you may have to take a few matte shades with you as well in order to complete an eye look. I have to say though, this palette has definitely inspired me to go a bit bolder with my makeup looks, although I would usually stick to my brown shades and purples would honestly be as bold as I would normally go, haha! I have definitely been experimenting with the pink shades and I'm loving it so far - the fact that there is such a range of colours in this palette means you can experiment with a variety of colours to see what looks best on you without buying a load of different eye shadows or palettes!

Lets be honest, the thing that REALLY drew me to this palette instantly was the gorgeous mermaid inspired outer box, the blue holographic box is seriously beautiful and I was actually pretty sad to see that the palette itself is just a boring black colour, since the blue holographic style would've given this palette so much more! (It also means that I have to keep the outer box around, haha!) But that aside, the palette is gorgeous and as standard for Makeup Revolution palettes it has the super handy large mirror which I always use when travelling! The shades also all look so gorgeous together and the names of the shades are amazing as ever with all of the shades fitting into the mermaid theme!

As far as pigmentation goes, some shades definitely come out more pigmented than others and I found the lighter shades were harder to get a good colour pay-off. The majority are definitely build- able though and I found that when used with a good quality base (I use Mac's Pro Longwear Paint Pot in 'painterly') the colours tend to come out brighter and are more visible! My favourites shades so far and the ones I have reached for the most are definitely; Creature, Mermaids, Kingdom and Pink Sea - but I can't wait to experiment more, maybe even with the green shades!?
